I have a dream! These magic words became the title of one of most notable speeches delivered by Martin Luther King. Let me start this story with these words as I also have a dream NOW. UB MBA is the place where I am learning theory in a practical manner, honing leadership skills through LeaderCORE, expanding my network through numerous events, being myself and creating my own “shimmy” brand.
However, if somebody asked me what my dream was just one-year back, I would have given a random answer like working. I was just an undergraduate who was taking life easily and being cheerful all the time. But not only I didn’t know that in one year I will have a better answer, a dream and a focused career path but also the most excellent way to achieve it. “Focus” – That was the name of my team in the first year MBA advantage weekend. We were assigned in to different teams than the usual MBA team. This was a great chance to interact with MBA peers who I usually didn’t get a chance to interact with. We were suppose to research about New Era Caps, which is a well known Company in Buffalo area and prepare one team member to be interviewed by the company representatives. It was not only about researching and getting the task done but also to trust Balakumar Bharathi, our team interviewee, and win the competition. We worked hard as a team and in the end we won. However it was not only about the victory but the journey and the relationships I built along the way.
The professors are beyond the expectations. If you ever take a course with Professor Krzystofiak, I guarantee that you will learn Excel inside out. If you learn Communication with Professor Rogers, She’ll teach you to enjoy your life. If you take marketing courses with Professor Jain, you will learn through real life examples and you will learn that there is no pot of gold at the end of the rainbow unless you look for it. If you take Operations management with Professor Ru, I assure you, you will meet the nicest professor who you can learn from. And if you are really lucky, you will get to learn Economics with an amazing Professor like Professor Kenneth Kim “Ken”, who will make you feel like economics is the best subject in the world.
The UB MBA program opened my eyes to see things in an optimistic way. It taught me mistakes are opportunities to learn. Low marks are the best chance to learn a subject. UB MBA program teach not only how to be just a businessperson but how to be a Business Professional. UB MBA program is a pot of Gold, which has many coins in it. It is up to the individual to choose which coins to use and use it to get to your dreams. The most important thing is not to stop knocking, not to stop believing in your success, not to stop dreaming because at UB MBA program “DREAMS DO COME TRUE!”
